The Yamaha Xeno trumpet has a hand-hammered, one-piece brass bell that delivers balanced tone without being too bright. The one-piece bell has an axial (lengthwise) seam, making it a continuous extension of the trumpet's material. This results in pure, uniform resonance and superior tone. A hammered gold brass bell produces a perfectly-balanced tone with quick response and extra presence due to advanced manufacturing.
The Xeno trumpet is free-blowing - a trademark characteristic of the entire Yamaha Xeno trumpet line. The medium large bore (.459") provides just the right amount of resistance, allowing smooth pitch transition without over blowing, and the upper register is comfortable and does not fight back.
Yamaha has employed corrosion-resistant monel pistons on the Xeno, enhancing the smooth valve action and long term precise fit. The stock horn performs well right out of the case. Hand-lapping pistons and slides ensures an absolutely perfect fit and seal between the pistons and casing or slide parts. Such a perfect fit helps to achieve smooth air flow and smooth action and improve the response and intonation of the instrument. A thicker leadpipe helps the trumpet have a better tone and response.
